You can request a distribution using the GiftPact Donor Portal or contacting our team. The minimum amount is $250.
When we have completed your charitable distribution request, the GiftPact Donor Portal will email you a notification. You can track the progress of your request on the Donor Portal Gift-trac dashboard and also find all of your completed requests under the “My Distributions” view.
Canadian donor-advised funds can only be distributed to registered Canadian charities or other qualified donees as listed with the CRA. Some US charities are registered in Canada and, if not, you may be able to support a registered Canadian charity that is affiliated with the US charity. As well, some US universities are registered in Canada or are considered “prescribed universities” by meeting certain conditions under the Income Tax Act (Canada). Contact us to find out if the institution in the US you would like to support is a qualified donee.
Yes, as long as your account has sufficient funds, you can set up a recurring distribution to a Canadian charity.
Yes, GiftPact can distribute funds to support an individual’s online fundraising campaign as long as the charity is registered with CRA.
You can donate to your GiftPact Donor-Advised Fund at any time in the following ways: cash donation (by cheque or wire), in-kind donation of securities, or donation of life insurance. Please contact us, and we will be happy to help you replenish your Fund.
Your charitable tax receipt will be sent to you a few weeks after we receive your donation. You will receive an email when your donation receipt has been uploaded to your secure GiftPact Donor Portal.
Through your Donor-Advised Fund Agreement you can outline your wishes for how the funds in your GiftPact Donor-Advised Fund are administered when you die. You can recommend a list of charities and amounts that you would like to distribute to after your death. You can also name a successor donor representative who will have the authority to provide instructions on the account after your death. These options allow you to leave a legacy and transition your philanthropy to the next generation.
