GiftPact Foundation Inc. (GiftPact) is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). GiftPact is registered as a public foundation that assists families and institutions with their philanthropic objectives. GiftPact only distributes funds to charities who are qualified donees. We use the information collected to facilitate donation collection and processing, to issue charitable tax receipts, to open donor-advised funds, and to communicate and report to donors.
We also collect personal information that is necessary to verify the identity of individuals making donation recommendations on behalf of donor-advised funds (Donors).
GiftPact takes reasonable steps to ensure that Donors are aware of the purposes for which the information is collected. If you are one of our Donors, we will collect your name, address, phone number, and email address. In addition, we require that you name registered charities and other qualified donees as beneficiaries and provide specific donation instructions.
Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
GiftPact does not sell, rent, license, or trade your personal information in any manner or with third parties.
We need to collect personal information to fulfill our charitable purposes and be compliant with the Income Tax Act (Canada). We may provide your contact information to the registered charities you have recommended as donation recipients if you have provided us permission to do so.
We will only disclose personal information if this is required by law or permitted under PIPEDA, which may include assisting in law enforcement.
To open a Donor-Advised Fund, a Donor must enter into a Donor-Advised Agreement. By signing such agreement, you are giving GiftPact permission to collect and use the information in order to fulfill its obligations to you. We may request further information about yourself or your philanthropic objectives in order to better serve you, but you are not obligated to provide such information.
If Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) applies to any communications that GiftPact has with Donors, GiftPact will comply with any provisions of CASL regarding sending commercial electronic messages.
Accessing and Updating Information
If a Donor wishes to access or correct any personal information we have about them, they may contact our Privacy Officer.

Individuals should provide as much detail as possible about the particular information sought, in order to help us retrieve it. An access fee may be charged to cover our costs of providing the information.
For legal and administrative reasons we may also archive non-current records containing personal information, such as back-up data files and off-site storage.
Security
We protect all of the personal information we hold from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure. This protection applies in relation to information stored in both electronic and hard copy form. This website may offer links to other third-party websites. You should familiarize yourself with the particular privacy policies of those websites. A user may withdraw his or her consent to use his or her personal information at any time, but subject to any legal or contractual restrictions. This Privacy Policy may change from time to time.
